Little bit about me in English..

Dr. Nina Jovanović is a double-certified ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon, as well as a surgeon of the anterior segment of the eye, and a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmologists (FEBO).

He also deals with children’s ophthalmological pathology. She has been on the second subspecialization in eyelid and orbit plastic surgery at the Clinical Center of the University of Zagreb in Croatia for 2 years, which will end in August 2026.
dr. Jovanović graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sarajevo, after which she completed a two-year internship and clinical rotation. She completed her residency in ophthalmology in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2014, after which she enrolled and completed a two-year postgraduate study in experimental-laboratory medicine at the University of Sarajevo.

After completing her specialization, she continued her education at the University of Iowa, where she completed a Master of Public Health, advisor Prof. Corinne Peek Asa, and training in oculoplastic and orbital surgery at the Virchow Charité, in Berlin, Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City; Weill-Cornell Medical Center, New York City; international fellowship at the Kellogg Eye Center, Ann Arbor under the mentorship of Prof. Dr Alon Kahane, Oculoplastic training at the Eye Clinic, Virchow Charité Clinical Center, Berlin, Germany, and a short fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at the eye clinic in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. During the COVID pandemic, she was on a short fellowship at the Sheba Eye Center in Tel Aviv, Israel. During 2025, she spent a month at the SALK clinic in Salzburg as a scholarship winner of the American-Austrian AAF Foundation (OMI Institute), and in Ankara for training in orbital surgery with Prof. Onur Konuk.
Other significant educations are the European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology, Switzerland and Malta; MTS Wetlab Austria; Lions Educational Centre, Czech Republic. In addition to clinical work, he is actively involved in scientific research with a focus on eye injuries and oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery, and so far has 21 published papers in indexed journals, active participation in over 25 international congresses, and is an international editor for ophthalmology professional journals. He is the co-author of a book on the treatment of low vision in children.
dr. Nina Jovanović is employed at the medical faculty of the University of Zenica as a senior assistant.
Dr Nina Jovanović is a full member of the European Society for Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS), Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), Bosnian and Herzegovinian-American Academy for Art and Science (BHAAAS), Turkish Ophthalmology Association (TOA).
dr. Since 2020, Nina Jovanović has served as a member of the board of directors of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS), and is co-director of the medical section of the same organization, and head of the ophthalmology section at the academy.
He is the winner of several international awards and recognitions, among which stand out: “International Impact Award 2021” University of Iowa, “Best in ASOPRS 2019 and Best of Oculoplastics at AAO 2019”, “ASOPRS Foundation award”, “Developing Country Eye Research Travel Fellows Award of ARVO”, “Fellow of the American-Austrian Foundation”, NIH U.S. IPRCA scholarship for Master of Public Health at the University of Iowa, U.S. dr. Jovanović is the recipient of grants from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH U.S.) and the Fogarty Foundation for research: Pediatric Eye Injuries Research – PIER and First Trauma/Injury Register in Canton Hospital Zenica, B&H.

He is the founder of the ophthalmology portal http://www.oftalmologijabih at the BHAAAS ophthalmology section, within which professional symposia and conferences are organized.
He is the co-chair of three international ophthalmology symposia in BiH, which are organized annually as part of the largest scientific event in the Region, the BHAAAS Day.

dr. Jovanović serves as a member of the ICREATE Advisory Committee (Injury Capacity in Research in Eastern Europe) for NIH U.S. at the University of Iowa, where she was employed as a Graduate Research Assistant at the College of Public Health, the University of Iowa.
